a. Cup. Clear glaze. Gilded band at foot, rim, gilded design at edge a on handle. Handle moulded "leaf" pattern. Decorated with three garlands of han painted flowers under outer edge. Pattern number "5223 \ ". b. Saucer. Match a. Impressed mark on base "MINTONS \ D (symbol)" Nairn number C \ 22. Nairn had identified as 1860, but this mark, with addition of "S" not implemented until ca 1873. Year cypher is for Dec 1879. Ref. Godden, Encyclopaedia, pages 440 & 442 number 2711 and Godden, British Porcelain, page 304.
