Female influences in my life are my mum and adopted mum. Cultural values that I admire are life skills, love, compassion and guidance in life. I demonstrate my own cultural values by working at Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service, learning from Elders, showing respect and valuing language. I strive to be a strong leader by listening and communications and being a strong person who stands up for myself. Beth

Family is my number one value. We grew up rough but mum was there, making do. I strive to be a leader by trying to be the best at looking after family and community. We look after family from small to elderly, that's our community. I make sure they got food and their home is ok, I make sure they are ok. Gail
My mum is a strong female influence in my life. She lived through the era of legislation which controlled Aboriginal people. She kept us together as a family, this took a lot of strength. Have respect for each other and family values, be true to yourself. There are too many other women to mention, they are all inspirational. I love going back on country to replenish the spirit. I strive to be a leader by setting the future in a positive way, bringing everyone along the journey. Roma and Bruce

Strong female influences in my life are my wife May and my mothers. Our Aboriginal languages are still used today, in everyday language and Welcome to Country. Our parents were very strong in our upbringing. May and I are both survivors of the Stolen Generations. Our cultural values are through the use of our language and passing info onto our children and grannies. My wife is the matriarch of the family, is loved by all and is very respected throughout the community. She is a true treasure. Peter and May
