The lid slides on to cover most sides. It features a black, tan and natural design. While the lid is produced from diagonal plaiting, the box has plain plaiting weave. Curator Story June notes that this particular basket was brought from Burma by a Roman-Catholic nun who had lived there in the early 1950s before immigrating to Perth. It was passed on to June in 1968.
