Kathryn Bell

A graduate of Curtin University, Kathryn’s work occupies the space between fashion and garment. Shifting her focus to millinery in the lead up to Curtin's Homegrown exhibition, she began to see the sculptural potential of the hat form. Her work draws on small, Gothic stories of the macabre and the dark humour of Tim Burton’s films. Although cluttered with fragments of china, chains, feathers and dolls, Kathryn’s hats are stylishly composed and exude a graceful balance. She has created her own label, Blake and Bird, and is currently creating works on commission.
