High Tea - frequently asked questions What is on the menu? To coincide with the Secrets of the Afterlife exhibition, the Muse Cafe at the Perth Museum will be serving an Egyptian inspired high tea. This high tea will serve a selection of finger sandwiches, savoury treats, scones and sweet delights with plenty of local produce, using a variety of Middle Eastern spices and preparation methods. Does the High Tea menu cater for special dietary requirements? Yes, we have created vegetarian, gluten free, nut free and low risk pregnancy menus. Please confirm your menu option at the time of booking. Please note, though the nut free menu does not contain any nuts, it may still contain traces of nuts as it is prepared in a kitchen which produces a range of goods with various nuts. Please note there is a 15% surcharge on public holidays. Do you need to book in advance? Yes, as we are a very small communal table venue we are preparing all menu items only for those who have confirmed their booking in advance. Unfortunately we are unable to cater for walk-ins on the day. Pre-payment is essential. Can we have any other hot beverage other than tea? All high tea menus offer a selection of fine loose leaf teas. If you do not drink tea, you can opt for an espresso coffee or a hot chocolate. Other drinks can be ordered however, additional charges will apply. Is tea or coffee also served with the high tea which includes the pomegranate cocktail? Yes, all high tea menus offer a selection of fine loose leaf teas. If you do not drink tea, you can opt for an espresso coffee or hot chocolate. Other drinks can be ordered however, additional charges will apply. Does this price include entry to the exhibition? Yes, the high tea rate includes entry to the exhibition. Do you have a children's menu? We do not have high tea menus for children however, the Muse Cafe does serve kid friendly meals. Please ask our staff about our special "kid’s packs". Do you have concession and/or children prices? The Egyptian High Tea is a special package offered for this exhibition. Unfortunately we are not offering any concession or children rates. Children are welcome in the High Tea room however, adult rates apply. Is there a discount for large groups? Group bookings are welcome; our maximum capacity is for 22 guests. Unfortunately we do not offer group rates/discounts for this package. Can I make a booking for 3 people but only 2 are going to the exhibition or having high tea? The High Tea is sold as a package only – this is inclusive of entry into the exhibition. As well as High Tea, the Muse Café will be open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm and serving cakes, coffee and teas as well as an extensive lunchtime menu. What happens after I make my payment online? You will receive a confirmation email from our booking system. This email will confirm the day and time of your high tea booking and list any “special menus” you have booked. You will need to print this email and present it in order to collect your exhibition entry tickets. Where do I collect my exhibition entry tickets? Collect your exhibition entry tickets from the counter of the Museum Bookshop found in the Old Gaol. In order to collect your tickets you must have a print out of the confirmation email received at the time of booking. Can I go to the exhibition before or after my high tea session? You can go to the exhibition before or after your High Tea session, the choice is yours. We do recommend you arrive to the Muse Cafe on time for your confirmed booking as sessions begin promptly. How do I get my ticket to the exhibition? This will be presented to you when you arrive to your High Tea session. When will the high tea sessions be running? From the 16 May to the 22 September 2013 There are 3 sessions available every Thursday - Sunday and each session is 1.5 hours long: 11.00am - 12.30pm 1.00pm - 2.30pm 3.00pm - 4.30pm (Please note, sessions finish promptly. However, you are welcome to make your way from our High Tea room into the general cafe area if you wish to stay longer than your allocated time. The Muse Cafe closes at 4.00pm daily) Can I amend my booking time/arrive later than the original reservation? All high tea sessions are confirmed at the time of booking. Unfortunately, once a booking is confirmed we are unable to amend your session time. Cancellations and rescheduling All reservations are confirmed at the time of booking and sessions cannot be re-scheduled. All transactions are non-refundable and non-transferrable. The Muse Café is wheelchair accessible and the doorway to the High Tea room is 88cm wide, allowing access for a standard sized wheel chair (approx 66cm wide). The Muse Café is situated in the Old Gaol found in the Perth Museum, next door to the Museum book shop. Where are the restrooms? The restrooms are situated in the Foyer of the Temporary Exhibition Gallery, where the Secrets of the Afterlife exhibition will be displayed. Where is the closest parking to the Perth Museum? Street parking close to the Perth Museum can be found on both Beaufort Street and Francis Street. Alternatively, there is paid parking at the WA State Library; entrance to this parking facility is off Francis Street. In which WA Museum is the Secrets of the Afterlife exhibition on display?
