DRESS, c. 1910

Dress composed of blouse, skirt and decorative belt-cum-halter:
a) Blouse: black net in 2 layers; pouched and attached to inner-fitting peplum of light silk; V-detail formed with bars of black satin, 6 decorative buttons at trough of V, high collar and long undersleeves formed of inner layer of net, horizontally tucked, collar reinforced with 4 metal stays; back-opening with hooks and buttonholed bars. Pan's label sewn (possibly added) to inside waist.
b) Skirt: black silkfaille with satin stripe; straight front, fullness at back; 1 side opening with press-studs, continuing to hem as a vertical tuck, decorated with roundels of coiled tape; similar but shorter decorative tuck on other side; lined with black silk tabby, pleated frill at hem.
c) Belt-cum-halter: same fabric as skirt, edged with black satin; composed of a cummerbund with hook and eye closure at back, attached to a scarf-like halter with pointed ends and tassels, the loose end tossed over the shoulder to expose a "jet" jewel; a second scarf-like halter piece is loose, originally fixed and draped over other shoulder.
