FULL DRESS COAT - ROYAL NAVY

Full Dress Coat, rank of Engineer Comander (purple cloth between braid of rank stripes indicates engineer). Royal Navy uniforms appear to have changed little from med 19th Century to before World War II. Janett "British Naval Dress (1960) pg 122, shows a Captain's full dress coat 1891-1901. this coat identical except it does not have -2- braid diamonds around -2- central back buttons. Ref W81.29 for associated epaulettes, cocked hat, dress word and sash belt.
