Dress uniform of Colonel Ronald Ireland, MBE, ED, 8th Army, c1950s (a) Jacket. Navy blue, stand-up collar, with infantry badge on each side. Epaulettes: brass button (crown / crossed rifles) over crown and pip (Lieutenant Colonel). Four pockets on front: two breast with brass buttons. Five brass buttons down front. Pointed cuffs with two brass buttons. Two bars of colours as W77/2 (c) with Arabic 8 and oak leaf as W77/2 (a). Black satin lining. Label inside right-hand breast pocket: "REGIMENTAL No ... / NAME IRELAND / Crown Jackman's / MODERN / TAILORS / 861 HAY STREET / PERTH." Stiffened collar piece inside neck. Labelled: "C.G.C.F. / SIZE 15 1/2." (b) Trousers, navy blue with 1.5 cm scarlet stripe. Six black buttons on outside waist. (c) Cap, navy blue, woollen with red piping on crown and 4.3 cm wide scarlet band. Black chin strap and peak with 2 cm wide gold braid. Chin strap attached by brass buttons with crown / (map of Australia) and "AUSTRALIAN MILITARY FORCES" around edge. Inside label: "COMMONWEALTH / GOVERNMENT / CLOTHING FACTORIES / MELBOURNE" and "7" in circle printed over.
