Acquired by Colonel Ronald Ireland, MBE, ED. (a) Jacket, winter mess. Scarlet wool with white lapels and cuffs. Front fastens with two bone buttons, attached by cord. Red cotton lining. Label: "F.V. Sulley / TAILOR & MERCER / SOUTH FREMANTLE." Jacket cut to peak back and front. (b) Waistcoat. Scarlet wool with white silk lining. Scarlet cotton backing and buttons removed from front. Two slanting waist pockets. (c) Cummerbund scarlet satin with white lining. Fastens with two straps and metal buckles. Labelled: "C.G.C.F.". Mess uniform dating from about the 1930s.
