PETTICOAT, long, linen, lace bodice, ‘A.F.’

Long, cream, fine linen, netting and floral design lace bodice, straps and trim, hand embroidered, cream ‘A.F.’, women’s 1920s style petticoat. Lace trimmed straps, square neck, lace bodice interspersed with garland/wreath embroidered panels. Lace criss-crossed to bust. ‘A.F.’ hand embroidered beneath lace, off centre. Blackened dirty mark in centre of bust. Stitched waist, slightly A-line skirt, with tiered lace detail and trim around skirt, with one seam/dart between tiers. Small hole over left thigh, surrounded by patch of yellowed discolouration. Reverse: lace trim across square back. Small hole on left shoulder. 6 small, pearly buttons to waist, with hidden placket, secured by press stud at waist band, placket ends 80mm below waist band. Two rear darts from side seam, to waist. Lace and bodice yellowed/discoloured. Three seams/darts between skirt tiers. Small hole/loosened seam on far left side. Some small holes throughout lace work.
