DOCUMENTS, membership books -3-

H1993.113

All three membership books are from the same year, and are exactly alike in content except that they belonged to different people. They have a green/blue hard cover with black writing 'Waterside Worker's / Licence'. Above the writing is the Australian emblem of kangaroo and emu, and underneath that the number of the book. On the flyleaf is a warning that the licences may be cancelled at any time on certain grounds, and they are listed. Inside there is space for the name of the owner, a description of how they look, the signature of both the owner and the licensing officer. The licence meant that the worker could work at the port of Fremantle until the licence ran out, in these cases, June 1930. There were two other pages for renewal of the licence for an extended period. 'A' belonged to William Edward Hankinson, no. 00733 of Chester St. South Fremantle. 'B' belonged to Henry Wright, no. 17639 of Victor St. South Fremantle. 'C' belonged to Victor Carlson, no. 04542 of Bedford St. East Fremantle.
