The Necks

Legendary Australian instrumental trio The Necks are set to conjure up some one-of-a-kind luminous soundscapes at Western Australian Museum Boola Bardip in a series of two performances on June 2 and 3.

Revered internationally for their unique brand of slow burn hybrid instrumentals the trio – consisting of Chris Abrahams (piano), Tony Buck (drums and percussion) and Lloyd Swanton (bass) – will take to the stage with nothing prepared in advance.

Melding avant-garde, minimalist, ambient and jazz sounds to create something entirely new The Necks have amassed a cult following, after a four-decade long musical career.

The Necks’ bassist Lloyd Swanton said the band are thrilled to be returning to Perth and playing at the WA Museum for the first time, after Covid restrictions caused them to cancel their 2022 tour.

“Each of the venues we play in has a dynamic relationship with our performance and we are very much looking forward to taking our soundings in the historic Hackett Hall,” Swanton said.

The talented trio’s Australian Tour comes after the release of their 21st album Travel, however their performance will be like no other, as they take listeners on an improvisational journey under the canopy of Otto the blue whale.
