Fremantle will add another string to its creative bow when the WA Maritime Museum opens its doors to live music and sunset bars from Sunday 31 January.

Western Australian Museum CEO Alec Coles said the Museum has partnered with RTRFM to bring Harbour Sundays to Fremantle for five consecutive weeks.

“We will be hosting live music on the balcony of the Maritime Museum with a spectacular view across the river and out to the Indian Ocean.  There will be a licenced bar to help people fully enjoy the entertainment and the stunning sunsets!” Mr Coles said.

“The sessions are free and bring together a stellar selection of the finest jazz, blues, folk and rock ‘n’ roll Perth has to offer, alongside a fine selection of RTRFM DJs.”

The first session on 31 January hosts a live outside broadcast of RTRFM’s Rockin’ The Roots, followed by blues songstress Catherine Traicos launching her new album, Brave the Good Dark. Exquisite singer-songwriter Lucy Peach rounds out the rest of the bill, along with RTRFM’s ex-Breakfast presenter Peter Barr on the decks.

On 7 February, Harbour Sundays be a surf spectacular featuring Day of the Dead and Surf Mist with DJ Holly Doll.

As a part of Fringe’s Freo Royale program, Harbour Sundays’ 14 February edition will feature the Eduardo Cossio Trio and the live debut of Interview Music plus DJ Gabe Faith, whilst the 21 February session will feature an eclectic triple-header with Grace Barbé Afro-Kreol, AJ Wigwams and DJ Lady Carla.

Closing out the series, the 28 February event will be a spacey, heavy blues odyssey, featuring Datura4, Old Blood and DJ Big Ear Chad.

Harbour Sundays is free and is on Sunday 31 January from 4pm – 9pm, and each Sunday from 7 to 28 February from 5pm – 9pm, for those 18 years and older.
