Da Vinci Machines exhibition extendedNews | Created 3 Oct 2014 The Western Australian Museum – Geraldton today announced a three week extension to its internationally acclaimed Da Vinci Machines exhibition, until Sunday 9 November. Since the exhibition opened in July more than 8,000 people have explored and interacted with this amazing exhibition. Regional Manager of the WA Museum – Geraldton Leigh O’Brien said the exhibition had been extremely popular, with many visitors astounded at the breadth of Leonardo da Vinci’s extraordinary talent. “It is intriguing to learn that Leonardo da Vinci was not simply a great artist but an exceptionally brilliant man; his range of talents and interests appeals to many different people in different ways,” Ms O’Brien said. The Da Vinci Machines exhibition features more than 60 visionary inventions in the areas of flying machines, nautical innovations and machines of war, alongside 15 beautifully crafted replicas of famous da Vinci artworks. Interactive elements within the exhibition enable visitors to explore the whole creative process of building and testing the machines, with the bicycle and armoured tank proving to be the most popular inventions. “Feedback from visitors has been very positive with people describing the exhibition as amazing, fantastic, excellent and an asset to Geraldton, and asking for the exhibition touring dates to be extended,” Ms O’Brien said. Da Vinci Machines is open daily at the WA Museum – Geraldton until Sunday 9 November. Tickets can be purchased at the venue or on the Museum’s website at www.museum.wa.gov.au. The Da Vinci Machines exhibition is presented by Niccolai – Teknoart SNC and the Museum of Leonardo da Vinci, Florence.
