An orange balloon with Celebrate WA written on it

Relax with family and friends this WA Day and discover more about the Western Australian Museum – Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

A festival event on the Museum grounds will have a range of free activities for all ages including art, craft, balloon animals, and live music and dance performances.

There will also be pony rides, a bouncy castle and a dog show.

WA Museum – Kalgoorlie-Boulder Regional Manager Zoe Scott said the public holiday is a great time to explore and play at the Museum.

“We’re looking forward to seeing the community come together, have some fun, and enjoy a day out at the Museum,” Ms Scott said.

To acknowledge Reconciliation Week visitors will have the chance to help create a Sea of Hands installation and contribute to a painting with Aboriginal designs as part of an Artsource Community Canvas project.

WA Day events start at 9.30am and will run until 4pm.

Ms Scott said she was also pleased to be presenting the inaugural ‘Golden Bone Dog Show’ as part of WA Day – possibly the first time a dog show has happened at a museum in WA.

WA Museum CEO Alec Coles said the WA Museum’s Perth, Geraldton and Albany sites will also be hosting WA Day events.

“The WA Museum is all about exploring what it means to be Western Australian and WA Day is a perfect opportunity to do just that.

“The Museum is delighted to partner with Celebrate WA and we are grateful to their major partners who have supported the events in our regions. It should be a fantastic long weekend,” Mr Coles said.
