The 100,000th visitors to Dinosaur Discovery

More than 100,000 people have visited the Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous exhibition at the Western Australian Museum, with the Wallbank family from Subiaco marking this milestone when they arrived at the Museum this morning.

Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous opened in Perth on April 11, 2014 with the dinosaurs inhabiting specially created Cretaceous era environments at the Museum.

Western Australian Museum CEO Alec Coles said the exhibition had been popular amongst a variety of audiences, largely because of its scale, innovation and interactivity.”

“As well as the life-size animatronic models made to the Museum’s scientific specifications, we have developed exciting 3D augmented reality interactive components which can be seen on the big screen in the Perth Cultural Centre, as well as through a cutting edge smartphone app which can appeal to people of all ages,”  Mr Coles said.

In addition the Museum is providing an after-hours opportunity to mingle with the dinosaurs , with the Cretaceous Pop-Up Bar open on Friday night until 9.00pm, allowing people to socialise with friends while at the same time rediscovering the world of dinosaurs that had captivated them as children.

Tickets to Dinosaur Discovery: Lost Creatures of the Cretaceous can be purchased online http://museum.wa.gov.au/museums/perth/dinosaur-discovery-perth, and cost $20 for adults, $15 for concession holders, $12.50 for children and $10 per head for pre-booked education and children’s groups.  The exhibition is open between 9.30am and 5.00pm every day, and during the school holidays three sessions are available – at 9.30am, 11.30am and 2.00pm.
