Her bridesmaids, Septima’s sister Hilda, and Wilfred’s sister Trixie, wore ‘dresses of pale pink satin charmeuse made with draped skirts showing a panel of Oriental lace and bodices crossed with soft pink ninon over smartly cut lace yokes'. The bridesmaids also wore large pink satin hats adorned with lace ruching and pink silk roses, and carried bouquets of pink roses and ferns. The bride’s niece, Ailsa Higham, was the train-bearer. She wore a ‘white silk frock with its insertions and frills of Maltese lace…a quaint little bonnet of lace lined with pale pink chiffon, and chiffon strings held with satin rosettes’ and carried pink roses in a basket'. The wedding story: The wedding was well reported in several Perth newspapers: The West Australian, The Western Mail, and The Sunday Times. The ‘church was artistically decorated with a wide floral arch, from which depended a wedding bell, with masses of foliage entwined with fair white blossoms and Easter lilies, pot plants, and bowls of flowers.’ The hymn ‘The Voice that breathe o’er Eden’ was sung. Wilfred’s brother Aubrey was his best man, and Leslie Andrews, Septima’s brother-in-law, was the other groomsman. The reception was held at ‘Ailsa Craig’, the home of Mr & Mrs Harold Higham, Septima’s sister and brother-in-law and was attended by many friends. A wedding tea was served in the dining room, decorated by Mrs Higham with white and pink cosmos. ‹ Clara Carlotta (Tita) Carey and Charles Jerome Winton Higgins Laura Burt and Charles Lee-Steere ›
