A new species of Melo (Gastropoda: Volutidae) from northwestern AustraliaWA Museum Records and Supplements | Updated 8 years agoABSTRACT – Two new species of the pontoniine shrimp genus Periclimenaeus, from ascidian hosts from Ashmore Reef, Western Australia, are described and illustrated. Periclimenaeus kottae sp. nov., an associate of Didemnum membranaceum Sluiter, is one of the smallest pontoniine shrimps known. Periclimenaeus matherae sp. nov. is an associate of Hypodistoma deerata (Sluiter). Comparative figures are provided of P. pachydentatus Bruce, 1969, the range of which is extended to the Philippines.
