A NEW AND ABERRANT SPECIES OF PAGURISTES (ANOMURA DIOGENIDAE) FROM NORTHERN AUSTRALIA

Abstract
A new diogenid hermit crab, Paguristes manaparus, is described from shallow waters of the Northern Territory, Australia, The species is unique in the genus, and in the family Diogenidae, in that males lack a gonopore on the left side. Additionally, the left first pleopod of males is very much reduced and the left second pleopod is absent.
