Abstract
Lepidogalaxias salamandroides Mees is redescribed, knowledge of its relationship reviewed, sexual dimorphism discussed, and specializations related to its habits and habitats reported. The eyes are adnate, lacking eye muscles and a curious ability to bend thc head downwards and sideways is noted.
