A biogeographic survey of the southern Carnarvon Basin, Western Australia: background and methods

ABSTRACT – This paper describes the setting and aims of a multi-disciplinary study to sample the biodiversity of a 75 000 km2 region of Western Australia (the southern Carnarvon Basin), and identify biophysical factors related to the observed patterns of plant and animal distributions. The study was designed to provide a quantitative biological basis for conservation planning and monitoring.
