MEDAL, George IV Coronation

On obverse, high relief bust of King George IV wearing an olive wreath. Beneath the neck, "B.P". Lettered around the rim, "GEORGIUS IIII D.G. BRITANNIARUM REX F.D." The reverse depicts a coronation of a Greek-like figure seated on a throne. Three allegorical figures stand to one side, one is Britannia with a trident. A winged being on the right is about to place the crown on the king's head. Beneath, "INAUGURATUS / DIE. JULII. XIX / ANNO. MDCCCXXI". This is Pistrucci's official coronation medal, 800 specimens struck. Scratched on the edge: "K 55".
