MEDAL, INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION AWARD, SILVER

a. Silver medal; on obverse, head of a young woman, a branch of the tree beside her forming a coronet. Around the edge, "REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE". A bridge and a backdrop of a city can be seen to the right of the woman's head. On the reverse a winged person, holding a wreath and supporting a seated male figure, flies over what appears to be an Exhibition building. Beneath this, lettered in a frame, "EXPOSITION COLLECTIVE / DES ARMES INDIGENES DE / L'AUSTRALIE OCCIDENTALE" and around the edge, "EXPOSITION UNIVERSELLE INTERNATIONALE." "BRONZE" is printed on the rim. Beneath the foot of the flying figure, "J. C. CHAPLAIN" can be discerned. Near one wing, "1900". Medal is not boxed.
