(.1) Plain white card, with no image on front, and message written in pencil
"Somewhere in France/April 20th 1918/Dear Lida, Just a few lines to let you know I am still/in good health as it leaves me/at present. I have not received/ a letter from you since the/3rd of Oct. I sent you a field/card last mail, as I hadnot/time to write, as [illegible]/moving about, from one/place to another. The mweather/is keeping partly warm here/except for an occasional shower./I hope every body at home are/all in good health at present/my cobber and I have just/finished a dugout in the side/of a hill for the night so you/will excusie my writing as /I have not got a table to /sit down to. Well Lida I think/I have told you all the news/I remain your Soldier Boy Bob/xxx"

(.2) Half A4 sized sheet of white paper, with message in very faint purple pencil "letter is enclosed a card/with a card that has a /great history attached to/it when I get back to Australia. I will now close/With Love/from Bob./give my/Love to /all". On reverse written in blue biro pen by Lida "Don't destroy/this letter. Although/it is pretty faded now/Mum/Don't destroy this. Bob was killed so I never/heard his story."
