Postcard with purple embroidered flower framed in white card, edged with white net and blue ribbon. Printed in gold above flower "Flowers of France Gathered for you". Letter on reverse in purple pencil. "France//April 16th/My Dear Eliza/Just a few lines/to let you know that I received your most/welcome letter today also your Lovely Photo/Thanks very much for it, you have altered/terrible but stilll I see that same face of/yours. I am writing this on my birthday. I/am twenty two today and never been kissed./Yes Eliza received your cake alright. I made/sure I had thanked you for it but I am very/sorry if I haven't it was splendid. I hope Eliza/to be able some day to thank you personally/for your kindness. Did you receive the views/of Amiens I sent you I hope you did. Well Eliza/Dear I will write a letter later. With lots of love. Joe xxxxx/xxxx"
