Letter on reverse in black ink "France/Dec 11.16/Dear Lida xxx/your Kind letter to hand was pleased/to hear from you hope you all spent Xmas/Well this is the worst place in the world I/would sooner live in Australia on one meal/a day than a dozen here when it is not raining/it is foggy from morning to night it is dark at/4pm till 8am Love to you all from/Uncle Jack xx"
