Postcard with white muslin with embroidered picture of person in tartan kilt, holding french and english flag. Mistletoe at bottom corner, "HAPPY NEW YEAR" in blue in top corner. Muslin is divided into two sections, top flap lifts up. Letter on reverse in purple pencil "France/Oct 26.1916/My Dear Eliza/Just a very few lines to let you/know that I amin good health and I hope/you are the same. I haev not seen Bob/Greham for a week or two now as I have been to/England on leave and I can tell you I had a /splendid time. I will try and write you a long/letter next mail, but news is very scarce. Remember/me to Dad and Mother also Maggie and Tom and/I wish you all a Merry Xmas and a happy/New Year With Best Love I Remain/Your Loving Friend Joe xxxxxxxxx"
