White lawn. Wide neckline with broderie anglaise on muslin edging. Short, narrow sleeves form part of neckline. "V" shaped panel on bodice, composed of 3 insertions of whitework, pintucks and feather stitch, with broderie anglaise frill. Embroidery, pintucks and broderie anglaise frill on sleeves. Back gathered towards centre. Back fastening with drawtapes at neck and waist and 2 buttons (missing). Waist line piped. Skirt gathered onto bodice, handstroked. Widening panel of embroidery as on bodice, with broderie anglaise edged frill. Hem of skirt edged all round with broderie anglaise. All hand sewn. Probably 1840s ca to 1860s.
