BAYONET, German knife, 1871-1884

Hilt: plain wooden hand grip held by two studs. Carved initials appear to be B.H. Metal pommel with functional spring lock device. Two inspection stamps on base unclear due to light corrosion. Blade: single edge, straight tapering to double edged point. Ricasso stamped crown. ERFURT. Back edge of blade stamped crown/ W/ 88 together with anotehr too small to decipher. Cross guard very short with just barrel ring - marked 50.R.6.12.7.
