General Service medals, WWI, British War Medal and Victory with detached ribbons.
The British War medal is silver-grey in colour and bears on the obverse an effigy of King George V with the legend 'GEORGIVS V: BRITT: OMN: REX ET IND: IMP:' Rim stamped ‘850 D J GUNNING'. Reverse bears image of St George on horseback with eagle shield of the Central Powers, skull and crossbones underfoot. Above is the risen sun of victory. The ribbon has an orange watered centre with stripes of white and black at each side and borders of royal blue. Horizontal metal bar surmounted a top. (Presently detached) long coloured ribbon should loop through metal bar.
The Victory medal is bronze with a winged figure of Victory on the obverse and an inscription, "THE GREAT WAR FOR CIVILISATION / 1914-1919" on the reverse. The plain rim is inscribed '850 D. J. GUNNING'. The ribbon (presently detached) is red in the centre with green and violet on either side shaded to form the colours of two rainbows.
