Three World War One service medals including 1914-15 Star, General Service, Victory and attached Blue Cross badge indicating Membership of the Australasian Trained Nurses’ Association, attached to a blue fabric covered backing board for display. All belonged to Elsie Haywood Richardson.
1914-15 Star,obverse: four-pointed star-shaped medal, surmounted by crown motif, two crossed swords under laurel wreath with central banner with raised lettering 1914-15, copper alloy attached with a loop to tricoloured, red, white and blue silk grosgrain ribbon; reverse: engraved in block lettering 'S/NURSE/ E.H.RICHARDSON/ANS AIF;
General Service circular medal, silver-coloured metal, obverse: raised profile of King George V, block lettering around circumference 'GEORGIVS V BRITT. OMN: REX ET IND: IMP'. attached with metal bar to four-coloured silk grosgrain ribbon, blue edges with narrow black line, and wider white line from each edge and central orange panel; reverse: naked man with sword mounted on prancing horse, '1914/1915' in raised numbering to left and right sides. Engraved in block letters to edge 'SISTER E. H. RICHARDSON. A.I.F.'.
Victory circular medal, gold-toned metal, obverse: raised motif of winged Victory figure; attached with loop to multi-coloured silk grosgrain ribbon, from outer edges striped in black, purple, indigo, light blue, green and yellow with a central red stripe; reverse: raised laurel leaf motif around circumference with raised central block lettering 'THE GREAT/ WAR FOR/ CIVILISATION/ 1914-1919/.........'. Engraved in block letters to edge 'SISTER E. H. RICHARDSON. A.I.F.'.
