MEDAL, gold, Midland Railway Co, 1906

Flat, shield shaped, 9 carat gold medal with leaf patterned border cut out from the body of the medal. Edges of border follow shapes of leaves. Smaller raised shield and a raised banner are attached to the middle of the medal. ‘RP’(?) monogram engraved in centre of small raised shield. Small metal ring at top of medal, and hinged metal pin and clasp attached to back. ‘M.R.W.A./PRESENTED TO/R. PARSONS/by the Employees of the/MIDLAND RAILWAY CO/27-5-06’. Stamped hallmark of ‘DIXON’ at bottom, under which is scratched ‘P47951’. ‘9C’ stamped into bottom of border.
