SHIRTS, baby's, -2-
CH1980.268.a
White cambric. Open shirt, with no flaps and sleeves. Narrow edging of machine made lace at neck and sleeves. Wide sleeves suggest date in C19th mid ca or earlier, but shirt is larger than most open shirts. It might have fitted a one year old child, but not a second or closed shirt style. All finely hand sewn, with French seams in sleeves. Reference: Cunnington & Buck, CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND, 1965, pages 152-3.
