White. Body of skirt sewn from one piece of material. Round neck with tiny seam. Seamed at shoulder with insertion of hand made bobbin lace, and row of draw thread work on either side. 2 rows of raised needlework scallops on far outside. Upper sleeve seam strengthened with an extra band. Sleeves gathered onto this. (handstroking). Fairly full sleeves, long and open at the wrist, opening extending up the sleeve seam. Row of draw thread work above seam. Trimmed with hand worked Valenciennes lace. Gusset under arm. Open down the front with very small seam and drawn thread work. All hand sewn with stitches scarcely visible. Reference: R. Cunnington & Buck, CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND 1300- 1900, 1966, pages 105 & 150.
