White cotton small child's open shirt. Very short sleeves cut in with the body and trimmed with handmade open work lace. Wide neck opening. Flaps have a tie on each corner. Flat seams on shoulders and sides. Part hand, part machine made. Machine sewing in lock stitch. Reference: Cunnington P. & Buck A. CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND 1300- 1900, pages 152-3.
