SHIRT, infant's first
CH1980.267
White, fine cambric with lawn frill forming sleeve. Open in front, with flaps front & back to fold down over bodice of petticoat. Shoulders shaped to fold back over top of arm. Seams reversed accordingly. Sleeves formed from lawn frill and small gusset. Very finely hand sewn. Characteristic of second half of 19th century.
