OPEN SHIRT, infant's

White, body of shirt made from one piece of material. Square neck. Shoulders made to turn back over top of sleeve. Shoulders joined with an embroidered band with open work flowers. Sleeve formed only by a band of lace together with a gusset. The turn back part of the shoulders also finished with a band of lace. All hand sewn. No fastenings. Reference: Cunnington & Buck, CHILDREN'S COSTUME IN ENGLAND 1300-1900, page 152-3.
