DRESS, baby's \ CHRISTENING ROBE

Elaborately decorated white cotton christening robe \ dress. Short sleeves, skirt gathered right around waist. Panel of embroidery from neck to hem, tapered at waist and becoming wider down to hem. Embroidery consists of embroidered bands alternating with embroidered flounces and bands of rouching. Ungathered flounces? border the whole panel, sleeves formed almost entirely by embroidered flounce. Lace on neck. Mostly machine sewn (chain stitch) some hand sewing. Bottom of skirt has section of 4 tucks extending from either side of embroidered panel around to the back. Embroidered band with scalloped edge on hem. Drawstring ties at waist and neck.
