In 2003 I moved to Darkan from the Philippines and married my husband. He has been very supportive and this has allowed me to start my own market stall business selling plants and my sons to study. Corazon
I was born Broomehill and grew up there also. I met my husband in this area and we live out of town on sheep and grain farm. We stayed in this area due to my husband's work and the location is really great - it is central to the coast and to our children who are now living near Perth. I really like the community spirit in Katanning - people are very trusting and it is safe. Robyn
Moved from Perth to the Katanning area as it has a great community feel to it! Adam, Joni and Cherokee
Katanning is a warm and friendly town; a wide range of cultures gives us the choice of different ways of life. I live here with my husband. My children still live here and so do my grandchildren. Lee-Ann
I arrived in Perth in 1948 as a war immigrant due to Russia invading Estonia - my family were sponsored to move here. In 1963, I moved to Katanning as I was the teacher appointed to the school here. I met my husband, Martin, here and we married in 1968. I brought and have maintained my customs mostly. Tiia
I was a Naval Commander in the US Navy and I was the first US Seventh Fleet representative sent to Perth in 1980. I first came to Katanning in 1981 when a trip was organised to bring US sailors here to promote tourism. There was a busload of sailors and we had a big BBQ and sheared some sheep; lots of women came from around the district to meet the sailors! I've lived in Perth ever since, except for a stint in Brisbane. When I heard about Alep Mydie and the welcoming culture he fosters here, I decided to come back to Katanning to meet him. Joe
I am from Kerala in South India and moved from India for marriage and for my work as a missionary. I love my work and I can see the good in people - everyone has it in them! Tom
Perth has been my home for the past 11 years. I've moved around a lot during my life since being born in Colombo, Sri Lanka. I have lived in Sydney, various places in Sri Lanka, Bunbury for high school and finally settled here in Perth. I have been on an amazing personal journey starting with being that quiet socially awkward kid in a primary school in Sri Lanka. After a life changing experience on a summer camp in Canberra in 2005 as a year 12 student I have been on an incredible ride to push myself to connect with humans and challenge myself to experience life in a new light from dancing to spirituality. Being involved in a group known as The Liberators, I'm committed to spreading the joy of freedom and human connection to the people of Perth. Pasan
Como is home for me, I have lived here all my life. We're an open community of unique individuals. Fremantle especially is a diverse space of creative artists and musicians. The more you delve into Perth the more you'll find! Elliot
My partner is from Cairns. We both do dancing and we met at Virginia for a dance event (I'm from Lancaster, Pennsylvania). I was going to move to Brisbane but he got a job here in Perth and so we both decided to move - we had never been here before! Moving was a bit of an Alice in Wonderland experience - all the flowers were different, everything was different. At first it felt very corporate, probably because of where I was working, but when I got a mit more involved (in events, Fringe, exploring suburbs and going to the beach) it felt more like a community. It feels like you're a part of building something. I have never lived anywhere that has so many different people from different places and people who travel so much! Everyone travel and it is expected - that's not the same at home. At home you can hop in a car and go to another city but in WA you could drive for three days! Amanda Jane
I was born in Perth and love being close to my family here, though I also lived in Europe for a few ways and feel at home there also in a different way. Paul
Home is a difficult question for me. It is not a place, it's where my friends and family are. I came here 5 years ago from Romania and it was always my dream to live in Australia. When I was 5 my dad's friend moved to Melbourne and it was very hard for him to move from a communist country. He sent photos and it was like magic for me; the way Christmas looked and the smiling faces and so I wanted to live there. I got my job here and moved! People here still have a sense of community. They have a respect for nature and they look after the land. I've done my bit - I've had more than 20 people move here because of the photos I've posted online. Alina
I am from Tasmania and moved to Margaret River for the surf. I then started working in the mines and have been based in Perth more recently. I have just come back from a trip to Nepal which was a really amazing experience. Neesha
Perth, WA is home for me - I was born here and will remain here. I love the quietness, friendliness and amazing nature throughout the State. The diversity of the flora, fauna and landscapoe is incredible and is something I would share with other people about Western Australia. Kylie, Shaun and Syreeta
Taiwan is home. I have been living here for 2 years - I moved here to work and experience living in a different place. I am moving back to Taiwan in a month and enjoying the people and living in the moment right now! David
Perth is home to us. We both came to Perth to finish our degrees and met 6 months after moving. Destiny brought us together and we chose Perth to be our home; now and for the future. Perth is so much more than beautiful beaches and wildlife parks. It has beautiful and amazing people too and as a multicultural couple we have strong faith that Perth always will welcome and embrace everybody. Lene and Nilesh
Perth is home now and probably will be forever. I was born and bred here, moved away overseas for work for 10 years and have moved back in the last years. Perth has changed drastically in the last 10 years, in a really good way. I have my amazing family here and friends as well as making new friends all the time. The sunshine here is as amazing as the smiles on people's faces. There's so much to do here all the time and amazing places to visit that are diverse and different and often charming. The transport links are easy to get around and Perth is a beautiful city with so many green spaces. COME TO PERTH!! Sandra
I have moved around a lot - Kalgoorlie until I was about 8, then Albany and then to Perth. I have learnt that you are your home. Whatever you feel at that time and in that place. I would share stories about people in Western Australia and not just the places. I have lived in 3 very different places now - the desert to the coast to the city. There is diversity in the land and also the people! Bella
I moved to Perth in 2015 from Albany to study music at WAAPA. Perht is my hiome now and Albany is secondary. I haven't met anyone here that I don't like - it's the people that make me feel at home. Perth is bigger than Albany but still small. I hope to maintain what I have now, to continue with this sense of contentment. Charlotte
Perth is home for us. I moved to Perth in 1982 with my parents and met Rajiv who was living in Melbourne through friends. I moved to Melbourne and we married, once having children we decided to moved to Perth for support from family and friends. We are actively involved in the Sikh community in Perth and very interested in the history of the community and involvement in the development of Perth, Western Australia and Australia from the cameleers to the traders travelling from town to town selling wares to those who assisted in farming in the Wheatbelt. Kuljit and Rajiv
Home is anywhere for me. My brother was here in the Kimberley and having such a good time so I decided to come here and enjoy the weather, the people, the peace of the place and the sea. The sea is amazing here! Pauline
Everywhere is home as I am travelling around Australia. This is the first time I have been here and have stayed for 4-5 months. I am camping in a van and in 1 month I will be going to Darwin. Liza
