In Unit 1 of the Year 11 Marine & Maritime Studies syllabus maritime history and archaeology is introduced. Students study historic sea routes and exploration and mapping of the Western Australian coastline.

This includes:

  • impact of world trade patterns and historic sea routes, including Brouwer’s route, on Western Australian coastal exploration
  • importance of exploration and mapping of the Western Australian coastline, including that carried out by de Vlamingh and Hartog

A comprehensive microsite created to commemorate the first recorded landing of Dirk Hartog and the crew of Eendracht on the Western Australian Coast.
