In the late 1960s there were many U.S.A. traditions shared in the Exmouth community including a men and women Gala Ball and the 4th of July firework celebrations.

At the opening of the Gala Ball, the debutants got paired with the air force men and prepared by taking lessons and learnt to dance. The dance was situated in the shire hall of Exmouth; everyone had an amazing time.

The Fourth of July was held at the Base and was presented with American styled entertainment and food stalls. Around 8pm-9pm after the long day, there was a firework display which was a highlight of everyone's day.
