NWS Shipping Theatre

Join Craig Cormick as he takes you on a journey through some of the fascinating stories of shipwreck survivors from the age of sail and steam. Many of the wrecks detailed his recently released book, Shipwrecks of the Southern Seas occurred in Western Australian waters. Craig will read from his book and discuss the research involved in these stories, including how an author deals with contentious issues when interpreting the grey areas of history.

Craig Cormick is an award-winning author and science communicator. He has published over a dozen books, including In Bed with Douglas Mawson - about a voyage to Antarctica he undertook in 2008. His other sea voyages have included travelling to Iceland from Norway, cruising the Pacific and sailing aboard the HMB Endeavour replica - he has yet to be shipwrecked and driven to eating other survivors though.
