Mid West Birding Group - Inaugural birding weekend March 12-13 2011

Venue:  Wedge Building, WA Museum Geraldton  
9.30am – 4.00pm (bring your own lunch)     

Cost $12 per person  includes hand out material

Join expert presenters from Birds Australia WA in a day long series of workshops on the birds of Geraldton, the etiquette of bird watching, survey techniques and how to make the most of your field guides and equipment.

Program

9.30am: Registration

9.45am: Workshop 1: Birds of Geraldton – identification, habits and habitats (Presenter: John Blyth)

10:45am: Workshop 2: Survey Techniques – an overview. Ways to find and record birds with the least disturbance. (Presenter: Sue Mather)

11.45am: Workshop 3: Etiquette of bird watching – ways to see and enjoy watching birds with the least disturbance (Presenter: Brice Wells)

12.30pm: Lunch (please bring your own lunch: tea, coffee and water available)

1.30pm: Workshop 4: Field Guides and equipment – an overview of field guides and spotting scopes (Presenters: Rod Smith and Brice Wells)

2:45 pm: Afternoon tea

3:00 pm: Workshop 5: The Sounds of Birds – bird calls, the joys of sounds (Presenter: Rod Smith)

4:00 pm: Workshops end
