Western Australian Museum Centre for Ancient Egyptian Studies (WAMCAES) Lecture Series 2012

Field seasons in Egypt 2011-2012 - an illustrated lecture by Heather Tunmore.

Lecture 2.00pm - 3.00pm, refreshments 3.00pm - 3.30pm.

One of the most important ancient places in Egypt was once the cult centre of the god of the afterlife. In 2007 Heather Tunmore joined an American excavation team that has uncovered material dating from the Old Kingdom and also finds from other periods of ancient Egyptian history. . In 2011 the season was cut short by political events throughout Egypt and the team evacuated. The 2012 season picks up work again. Join Heather to hear about the last 2 years fieldwork.

Heather Tunmore is an Honorary Associate of the Western Australian Museum. She has an MA in Egyptology from Auckland University. In Egypt, Heather has also worked with Yvonne Harpur and the Oxford Expedition to Egypt. Heather is also working on a floral garland in the WA Museum’s ancient Egyptian collection.
