The Western Australian Museum is currently undertaking tenresearch projects relating to ornithology:

  • Field guide to the birds of Western Australia, Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) islands
  • Cockatoo research program (on three endangered black cockatoos of WA - Baudin's Cockatoo, Carnaby's Cockatoo, and the Forest Red-tailed Black Cockatoo)
  • Seabirds of the eastern Indian Ocean
  • Birds of the Houtman Abrolhos
  • Birds of the Ord River region
  • Avifauna of Kimberley islands
  • Birds of Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) islands
  • Checklists of Western Australian, and Christmas and Cocos (Keeling) Island birds. 
  • Avifauna of eastern Indonesia (current revision of Tyto owls)
  • Birds of the Great Victoria Desert
