(A) Small package covered in grey waterproofed fabric. A safety pin wrapped in paper is stitched to the outside. Label stuck on to outside reads 'WAR OFFICE MEDICAL DIVISION / FIRST FIELD DRESSING' Instructions for application follow with makers name and the date '1918'. (B) Brown cotton bag containing a piece of light pink folded gauze. Whether this gauze is part of the original pack is not known. Printed in black on outside of bag is 'FIRST FIELD DRESSING' followed by opening instructions and contents which are listed as 'TWO DRESSINGS IN WATERPROOF COVERS, EACH CONSISTING OF A GAUZE PAD STITCHED TO A BANDAGE AND A SAFETY PIN'. Directions for use makers name and the date 'AUGUST 1918'. From the contents description it would seem likely that (A) was part of contents of (B). These items were part of a large assortment of objects collected when the relatives of Mr & Mrs Osterberg came to Perth to clean out the house after their death.
