BANDAGE, world war one

Small bandage inside a cream calico bag. Bag is tied at top with white cotton tape. Edge glued down, and bottom of bag folded in towards bandage. Paper label glued onto front of bag with instructions in black, and a red arrow pointing towards glued side of bag. "War Office - Medical Division/First Field Dressing./ Tear apart the uncemented cor-/ ners as indicated by the arrow. / Take the folded ends of the / bandage at each end, and keep- / ing the bandage taut, apply the/ gauze pad to the wound and fix/ the bandage./ DO NOT....[ illegible] THE/ GAUZE..[illegible]..WOUND."
