Small, round, pewter?, silver coloured metal, 1945 ‘VICTORY/MEDAL’, medallion. Small eyelet, engraved Australian land mass motif in centre of field (background), with two wavy lines under Great Australian Bight, with semi-circle engraved border around engraved ‘1945’. Muscular, athletic, figure, mid-gait, wearing a tunic, looking to large sword wielded in right hand, above head, in foreground. Reverse: ‘VICTORY/MEDAL’ engraved either side of eyelet, interspersed with raised motif of world from below, at South Pole. Shows Antarctica in centre of field, (clockwise from eyelet); Australia, New Zealand, some Pacific islands, southern South America, southern Africa and Madagascar. Lines engraved around land masses. Small wavy line engraved below stylised, small whale motif, sitting between South America and Africa. Small wavy line engraved below stylised sailing ship, sitting below ‘VICTORY’, between Madagascar and Australia. Metal tarnished, reverse has a golden sheen, dark marks all over medallion.
