SUITCASE

Medium sized pale brown leather suitcase. Inside of suitcase lined with pink fabric, shot with purple. Inside of suitcase lid lined with paper with red and white oval repeating pattern. Top of lid (external) has white luggage label lined in blue stuck on. Printed in black ink "R.C. GLOVER/142 VENNER RD.,/SYDENHAM, S.E.26/LONDON, ENGLAND" (only the tips of the word England and visible, most of it is ripped away). The front face of the suitcase has a leather handle, with a metal ring looped through either end. These rings also loop through two leather tags which are attached to the suitcase with a nail. There are two lockable clasps at either side of the hand but the top fastening clips on the lid are missing. Underneath the handle are the remants of an oval shaped grey adhesive luggage label. "P&O/W.B. HAY/STRATHA../...ERTH N....". Remainder of label has been rippped off. The same label, also party missing is on the adjacent face of the case "P&O/NAME W.B. HAY/(IN BLOCK LETTERS)/S.S. STRATHAIRD/CABIN OR BERTH NO...115...". The corners of the suitcase base and lid are reincforced with extra triangles of leather which are stitched with brown thread.
