Sori: slight

Sugata: hira tsukuri with kanmuri otoshi tip

Nakago: 9.0 cm, one mekugi ana, ubu

Hada: possibly masame

Hamon: unclear due to condition of the blade

Date: c. 1868-1912
This tanto blade was made during the Meiji era.

Type: HAMIDASHI

Saya: mijingai-nuri in black striated lacquer over wood. Kurikata broken, kodzuka missing

Tsuka: wood, binding missing

Fuchi/kashira: iron, inlaid with silver snowflakes and mist
Menuki: missing

Tsuba: iron, of naga-maru-gata shape, with nunome of tendrils of vines with silver and gold leaves. Dimensions: 4.0 x 5.6 x 0.4 cm

Overall length: 51.0 cm
